FLOETER was founded in 1978 in Stuttgart. As a specialist company for the demanding product protection of automotive components, the company was able to establish itself in the early 1980s in the automotive industry throughout Germany. Above all, the understanding of FLOETER's quality and the ever increasing demands of the supplier industry have shaped FLOETER's self- image in a sustainable way. Already in the early 90s FLOETER became internationally active with the unique concept of stand-up pouches. At the turn of the century FLOETER made it to the top of the world market.

In 2003, FLOETER spun off its food business to its own business unit, placing the product protection of industrial components entirely in the company's focus. Because of the great success of the air cushion systems, in 2012 they were also spun off to their own company for the main focus on air cushion systems and stretch wrap systems. Airwave Packaging represents FLOETER in USA.
